We hope you are keeping safe in these uncertain and difficult times. We at the Royal Anthropological Institute are now working from home. Whilst our physical headquarters are closed for the foreseeable future, we are keen to continue supporting the anthropological community and to develop new ways of doing so.
We know that films are an integral part of learning, and we would like to make the transition to online teaching easier. Here are some of the ways that we will be making our films available to teachers and students during this period:
- If you have purchased a DVD from us that you were planning to use for your teaching, we will make this available online for free until the end of this academic year. (Note that this will not be possible for our entire catalogue, but for as many films as we can).
- Film of the Month: we will be making one film a month available for free streaming on RAI Player. The films will be accompanied by teaching resources.
- We will organise regular online Film Watch Parties. We collaborated with Bertha DocHouse for Digital Lives, our first one. You can watch the post-screening Q&A here and find out about the next ones by signing up to our mailing list.
- We will shortly launch a short film collection on the RAI Player – this will remain free until the end of this academic year.
- DVD orders: at the moment we are still taking DVD orders. As the situation evolves this might change. We will keep you updated.
- We remain available for support and advice on films from our extensive catalogue .
- Many of our films continue to be available on Alexander Street Press and on-demand on the RAI Player. A free trial of the Alexander Street
‘Ethnographic Video Online, Royal Anthropological Institute Teaching Edition’ is available.
Please do not hesitate to contact Caterina Sartori, the RAI’s Film Officer
(film@therai.org.uk). She will be happy to help with any questions, queries or requests.
