My poetry is an attempt to expand and articulate the built-up feelings many diasporas endure when unforeseen circumstances such as floods or other disasters occur in their ‘mother-country’. I attempted to explore if and how poetry can help diasporas deal with their transnational identity in a moment of a crisis. Being a diaspora and poet, I was able to articulate their multifaceted identity using myself as a case study and I was able to link the various concepts throughout this poem. The poem shows how poetry can carry thoughts and anxieties many diasporas face due to their transnational identity because of their inability to mobilise or the issues that come with spatiality.
