Dr Stephen Putnam Hughes joined RAI Film in 2020. He earned his Ph.D. at the University of Chicago and taught for decades at SOAS, University of London, where he taught anthropology of media, visual anthropology, documentary, and ethnographic film. His research focuses on the anthropology of media practice in Tamil-speaking south India. He has been involved with RAI Film since 2000 in numerous capacities including organising and directing RAI Film Festivals, selecting films, serving as a judge and presenting.
