Castellammare is a ‘high-density Mafia’ seaside town. Local government is infiltrated, its economy is stagnant and there is no future for its youth. A group of angry young Sicilians now wish to bring about change by contesting the local elections. Through this election campaign, we observe how ordinary Sicilians perceive, think, talk or ambiguously refer to the Mafia; this is truly surprising. We gradually realise that Casellammare lives under a dark cloud, and we become increasingly concerned that this groups of young people should win.
